We’ll always do everything we can to make sure you get a fully stocked box with the highest quality ingredients. Sometimes that means we have to substitute an ingredient for a suitable alternative. We’ll do this if something arrives at our factories damaged or if a supply issue has meant we don’t receive the ingredient at all.
Supply issues can happen for a number of reasons. For example, an unusually cold winter in Spain could lead to a pepper shortage. Or, a global issue like Brexit or the blockage in the Suez canal could create a national shortage of certain vegetables or sauces. Often these factors can affect the produce you’ll find in the supermarket as well.
If we do need to substitute an ingredient, we’ll work with our chefs and suppliers to send you an alternative that means dinner will still be delicious. You’ll get an email at least a day before your box arrives letting you know all the details (like a change to the recipe method).
We know it can sometimes be frustrating when you don’t get the ingredient you were expecting. If you’d like to report it, you can do so quickly and easily in our help centre by clicking “get help with this box”. We try our best to avoid this, so thank you for being understanding when a substitute does happen.
