Which bits of my box can I recycle?
Paper recycling:
- Your big red Gousto box (don’t forget to flatten it!)
- The Eco-Chill box - remove the lid and the base of the cardboard insulator, then flatten the walls.
- Ice Packs - the paper can be put in your recycling bin
- Recipe Cards
- Paper spice bags
- Recipe folders - make sure to separate the metal from the cardboard first!
Plastic recycling:
- Rigid plastic pots - clean completely, then recycle with the rest of your household recycling
- Ice Packs - the inner plastic can be recycled with plastic bags at larger supermarkets (don’t forget to drain them first!)
- Other flexible plastic films (like those around salad) which have the ‘Recycle with bags at large supermarket’ logo can be recycled at larger supermarkets
Metal recycling:
- Tins and cans
- Recipe folders - make sure to separate the metal from the cardboard first!
What can’t be recycled?
- Plastic bags and films
We’re in the process of updating our plastic packaging so that all the recycling guidance is clearly printed and visible. When we switch any of our packaging to recyclable options, it will have a logo clearly displayed to show how you dispose of it.
If the plastic packaging doesn’t have a recycling label on, they’re not recyclable in the UK yet. This is usually because the packaging is made up of complex layers designed to hold liquids and prevent leakage. A standard recycling process hasn’t been developed for them (yet!), but we’re working closely with our suppliers to find alternatives.
