By replacing the individual bags in your box with one ingredient bag, we’re using an average of 71% less packaging to store your sauces, spices and seasonings.*
Previously, each recipe used to have its own dedicated brown bag (or as we like to call it, the “bits and bobs” bag) which held all the small ingredients like spices and sauces you need to make your recipe.
You’ll now notice a change in the number of bags in your Gousto box. We’ve swapped the bits and bobs bags with just one big individual bag holding all those ingredients for your recipes.

Why the change?
We’ve made this change as part of our wider focus to reduce packaging and work towards our 2025 Packaging Pledge. We’re working with our suppliers to reduce single-use and unnecessary additional packaging across paper and plastic; trialling innovative sustainable packaging, and working with the industry on recyclable packaging formats.
The individual bags with the stickers are fully recyclable and can be popped into your recycling as normal, if you’d like to read more about this, click here. We’ve also seen a number of our customers reusing the individual bags for their children's lunches and storing other bits and bobs together.
Missing an ingredient?
Make sure to thoroughly check through your box if you think you're missing something, in case they've hidden away under your vegetables, or tucked away in your Eco Chill box. If you still can’t locate the ingredient, please report this through the “Get help with this box” link on the website or app homepage. To learn how to do this, click here.
*This figure is calculated based on the average number of recipes that our customers order per box and the average weight of the individual bags included in each box, compared with the average weight of a single ingredient bag which replaces the individual bags. The full details of this calculation can be found here.
